    PARO's Presumptive Charity Model offers healthcare providers a consistent, proactive and low cost screening tool to qualify patients for charity care, utlizing the provider's qualification criteria. Special attention is paid to those socio-economic factors that might adversely affect patients who deserve the most attention. Delivered by PARO, this solution was developed in partnership with a leading not-for-profit healthcare network.  Last year, over a quarter of a million patients in need received free care as a result of the PARO process.

    As a presumptive charity filter, this solution is often deployed at the end of the revenue cycle to help classify an account as charity instead of bad debt.  This allows hospitals to more appropriately recognize Community Benefit expense for patients they might have otherwise missed through manual application processes.  Highlights of this approach include:

    • Validation to the facility or network to account for historical work standards and approval methodology
    • Adjusts for regional economics and cost of living
    • Incorporates socio-economic factors which typically inhibit successful patient applications for Community Benefits
    • Improves data integrity through identity verification and validation.
    • Scoring dynamics were custom built to serve nonprofit, faith-based facilities
